Visit the Southernmost Point in the United States

Explore the rugged southern portion of the Big Island with a trip down to South Point (Ka Lae), the southernmost point in the United States – nothing but blue ocean lies between here and Antarctica. Along the way we stop at a world-famous black sand beach and a delicious bakery. As with all of our tours, this is a custom tour, so we can continue our drive around South Point and head up to "the city of refuge," a beautiful national historical park, or we can head back and check out a few sites in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.

Highlights

  • Ka Lae (South Point): windswept cliffs at the southern tip of the island and of the United States.
  • A black sand beach: one of the Big Island's best-known beaches, formed from volcanic rock.
  • Your choice for the afternoon: Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park (the "city of refuge") or a few sites in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
